Journaling seems simple: just write down your thoughts. But is it really that easy?
In this guide, I will explain how to start journaling and share tips to make it easier.
But when I started to journal, it was just blank to me.
My thoughts scatter across the page. I write, delete, and hesitate, searching for a perfect way to journal, but honestly, there isn’t one. Understanding how to start journaling can help you find your flow.
How to Start Journaling Effectively
You are not alone at all.
Over time, I realized something: I’m not bad at journaling. I was just overthinking it too much, and that held me back.
If getting a thought out on paper or in a notebook feels intimidating, unclear, or hard to express, learning how to start journaling might be the solution you need.
I’ll share some tips to help you start journaling today. Here we go.
1 Journaling isn’t writing like a writer, needing perfect grammar or needing to say the right thing
It’s getting what’s in your head out, even if it seems off or sounds bad,
You could talk about anything; you’re not impressing anyone.
2 Why Journaling Feels Hard
Nobody talks about this.
Most people struggle with journaling because:
Their thoughts are all over the place.
They try to sound perfect, like they’re writing an essay or something,
They think there are rules to journaling, and that’s holding you back.
Or they feel like what they write doesn’t make sense.
I went through the same thing,
But I just want you to open up and express how you feel.
It’s not that you’re bad at journaling; it’s that you’re putting pressure on yourself.
3 The Easiest Way to Start Journaling
Stop thinking about rules,
Trying to be a perfectionist,
Trying to sound smart,
Say whatever comes to your mind,
Trust me,
You’re building a skill of self-awareness. And it actually helps you stay in the moment,
Writing is a passion of mine, and I just simply.
Enjoy it
You will see how in tune you are.
Become one with yourself after not putting pressure on yourself.
Please just get anything out.
4 A fun journaling exercise for awareness,
What I like to do is write about moments, what exactly?
Is it a moment?
It’s: What You See / Visual Details
What do you notice around you:
It could be paintings on your wall , books on the shelf, these little examples. Try to look around and name 3 things you see.
All moments are because a camera could film them.
What Do You Hear :
Examples: a TV on, people talking,
What do you feel :
Examples, heart beating slow, it could be a cold.
Hands.
So these are what I explained are what really define a moment in your life,
I do this daily, and the benefits are amazing. It helps you live in the moment and reclaim direction in your life by clarifying what a moment truly is.
It helps you become a better speaker,
More confident,
More aware of your surroundings
Less time on your phone,
And ultimately
More appreciative of the moment
I hope these tips helped yoy and you are able to apply.
It applies in a practical way.
